Rumzia Sule, an International Relations student at the University of Cumbria, has been crowned Miss Ghana 2026 after emerging winner among 13 contestants at the 69th edition of the pageant, held under the theme “Empowering Women, Enduring Legacy.”
Fatimatu Zara Ishacu was named first runner-up, while Whitney Opoku Nketia placed second. Anita Dankwa and Nedlyn Appiah finished as third and fourth runners-up respectively.
Unlike previous editions, this year’s competition adopted a smaller, more development-focused format, emphasizing leadership, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and community service ahead of Miss Ghana’s 70th anniversary in 2027 and Miss World’s 75th anniversary.
Following nationwide auditions on June 27, the finalists underwent weeks of intensive training in financial literacy, leadership, personal branding, etiquette, fitness, and mental well-being. They also participated in community outreach, mentoring more than 300 students at Martey Tsuru Presbyterian JHS and taking part in the National Clean-Up Exercise in support of President John Dramani Mahama’s sanitation initiative.
The final results were based on 80% performance throughout the competition and 20% public voting, with Rumzia’s compelling presentation of her 12-month social impact vision through the Miss Ghana Foundation helping secure her victory.
As the new Miss Ghana, Rumzia Sule will represent Ghana at the upcoming Miss World pageant in Vietnam.
