The scoreboard can be deceptive.
At 2-0, football fans usually begin to predict the post-match headlines. The underdogs start dreaming, the favourites begin searching for answers, and many neutral supporters conclude that the contest is over.
That was the mood when Egypt surged into a two-goal lead against Argentina in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 encounter. Few could have imagined that the game would end with Argentina celebrating a remarkable 3-2 comeback victory.
But perhaps the greatest story of the match was not the result itself. It was the mindset that produced it.
In a world that has become obsessed with instant success, immediate gratification and overnight breakthroughs, the Argentina comeback was a timely reminder that outcomes are often determined not by how a story begins, but by how people respond when the story refuses to go according to plan.
Life has a way of putting all of us behind on the scoreboard.
