About 13 people are believed to have died, with several others injured, following a horrific three-vehicle collision at Odumase, near Konongo, on the Kumasi-Accra Highway in the Ashanti Region.
The crash involved a passenger bus, a cargo truck loaded with tomatoes, and an empty fuel tanker, according to officials at the scene.
Preliminary accounts suggest the accident occurred after an alleged wrongful overtaking attempt, which reportedly led to a head-on collision. However, the exact cause of the crash is yet to be officially determined.
Emergency response teams rushed to the scene to rescue passengers trapped in the mangled vehicles. The injured were taken to nearby health facilities for treatment.
The crash has caused significant traffic congestion along the busy Kumasi-Accra Highway as security personnel and emergency responders continue rescue, recovery and clearance operations.
