NDC MP for Odododiodio, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has rendered an unreserved apology to GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over comments he made during a discussion on Citi TV.
Mr Vanderpuye said after listening back to his remarks and reflecting on the discussion, he realised that he had failed to communicate his intended position properly.
“I wish to sincerely apologise for my comments during my presentation on Citi TV this morning,” he said, adding, “I take full responsibility for that.”
He stressed that he never intended to undermine Mr Gyamfi or support opposition attacks against him and GoldBod.
According to him, his intention was to defend the work of GoldBod and Mr Gyamfi, but his response to what he described as sustained propaganda and attacks created a different impression.
“For that error of judgement and communication, I am sincerely sorry,” he said.
Mr Vanderpuye offered a specific apology to Mr Gyamfi, describing him as a dedicated NDC member who deserves the support of the party as he carries out his responsibilities at GoldBod.
He also apologised to the NDC leadership, members and grassroots who may have been disappointed or hurt by his comments.
The MP said party leaders and those seeking greater responsibility within the NDC are expected to demonstrate solidarity, sound judgement and loyalty, particularly when the party and its institutions come under political attack.
Mr Vanderpuye further reaffirmed his commitment to the NDC, saying his long political history and the difficult circumstances through which he had remained with the party demonstrated his loyalty.
“The NDC is my political home, and my loyalty and commitment to its cause remain unwavering,” he stated.
