Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has described education as the surest and most sustainable investment Ghana can make in its future.
Speaking at the 30th Annual General Conference of the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) at Ho Technical University, Mr. Bagbin emphasized that educating a child creates a lasting asset whose benefits extend across generations.
Unlike physical investments that depreciate over time, he noted, education continuously yields returns by equipping individuals with the critical skills required for national development.
“There’s no other route,” Mr. Bagbin stressed, affirming that education must remain central to Ghana’s growth trajectory despite changing economic conditions.
The Speaker also advocated for stronger legal protections and recognition for private education providers who risk private capital to support the state’s educational mandate.
Acknowledging state challenges in providing adequate textbooks, feeding grants, and teaching materials, Mr. Bagbin called for deeper public-private collaboration to improve overall educational quality across the nation.
The GNAPS conference continues to explore policies, investments, and innovations needed to strengthen Ghana’s dual-track education framework.
