Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, has said she would end an existing serious relationship if she became attracted to someone else rather than pursue both relationships simultaneously.
The singer shared her views on the Ask Ayra Starr show while responding to a woman who sought advice about being attracted to another person while already in a relationship.
Ayra Starr explained that she would rather break up with her current partner and take time to understand her feelings before pursuing a new relationship.
According to her, maintaining relationships with two people at the same time is not ideal, adding that spending time alone could help someone determine what they truly want.
“If I’m in a serious relationship with a guy and then I find another guy more attractive, I would break up with him instead of dating both of them at the same time,” she said.
The singer added that she does not believe a person can genuinely love two people simultaneously and stressed the importance of taking time to reflect before making another commitment.
In a separate response on the show, Ayra Starr advised her fans against neglecting their friends when they enter romantic relationships.
She emphasised the need to maintain a healthy balance between romantic commitments and friendships, warning that being in love should not mean cutting off friends.
The singer also noted that a romantic partner should not isolate someone from their friends, stressing that both relationships and friendships deserve attention and care.
