Rev. Steve Mensah to Build Two Disability Hospitals in the Volta Region

Reverend Steve Mensah has revealed plans to establish two major disability hospitals in the Volta Region as part of efforts to improve healthcare, rehabilitation and economic opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Speaking in an interview on Beyond the Honours, Rev. Mensah said his commitment to disability support is driven by concerns over the significant gap between disability care in Africa and the Western world.
He described the difference in the support available to persons with disabilities as being like “light and darkness,” stressing that the conditions faced by many disabled persons remain heartbreaking.
Rev. Mensah said his vision extends beyond providing medical care, with the broader goal of helping persons with disabilities live independent and dignified lives.
According to him, the project will provide access to prosthetic limbs and other resources that can enable persons with disabilities to develop their abilities, work and support themselves rather than being forced to depend on begging.
As part of the initiative, he is also developing an industrial park and technology hub within what he describes as a disability village.
The facility is expected to provide an environment where persons with disabilities can discover, develop and utilise their God-given talents while acquiring skills that can help them become economically independent.
Rev. Mensah said the initiative is intended to change the perception of disability from one that focuses primarily on charity to one centred on empowerment, opportunity and inclusion.
Through the proposed hospitals, disability village, industrial park and technology hub, he hopes to create a comprehensive support system that will enable persons with disabilities to access healthcare, develop their talents and contribute meaningfully to society.
