Nana Akua’s Husband, Harold Norman, On Hospital Admission

Harold Norman, the husband of Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua, was unable to appear before court on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, after he was reportedly admitted to hospital.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service said Mr Norman was scheduled to be put before the court in connection with allegations of physical, emotional and economic abuse levelled against him by his wife.

According to a police statement issued on October 7, Rosemond Akua Adobea petitioned the Director-General of the CID on August 20, 2026, alleging that her husband had subjected her to various forms of abuse.

Preliminary investigations, the police said, revealed that a previous case involving the couple had been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.

Following the petition, Mr Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations. The police said a caution statement was subsequently obtained from him. He was later granted police enquiry bail on August 29 with two sureties while investigations continued.

However, the police said Mr Norman’s lawyer notified them that his client had been admitted to hospital, making him unable to appear before the court as scheduled.

Investigators from DOVVSU have since visited the hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation.

The police said they will ensure that Mr Norman is arraigned before the court immediately after his discharge from the hospital.

The allegations against Mr Norman remain subject to the outcome of investigations and any subsequent court proceedings.
