EOCO Investigates Dennis Miracles Aboagye Over Alleged GH¢55 Million Public Funds Diversion

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confirmed that former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Edward Aboagye, popularly known as Miracles, is under investigation over the alleged diversion and misappropriation of about GH¢55 million in public funds.

The investigation, which also involves former IMCCoD Accountant Gerald Appiah and other unnamed individuals, follows a forensic audit covering the period between August 2022 and February 2025. The suspects are being investigated for alleged offences including stealing, conspiracy to steal, causing financial loss to the state, money laundering, and procurement-related irregularities.

EOCO disclosed that Gerald Appiah has voluntarily begun refunding some of the funds linked to the investigation, stressing that the repayments do not end the case or absolve any suspect.

Mr. Aboagye was arrested upon his arrival at Kotoka International Airport after EOCO placed a stop order on him. The Office says he will be granted bail in accordance with the law while investigations continue.

The arrest has generated political debate, with the NPP describing it as politically motivated. However, EOCO maintains that the investigation is based solely on alleged financial misconduct and is unrelated to Mr. Aboagye’s political activities.
