The National Premix Fuel Secretariat has announced a temporary disruption in the supply of premix fuel following an ongoing strike by members of the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union.
The tanker drivers began a sit-down strike on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, over the deteriorating condition of the 7.2-kilometre Valco Roundabout–Kpone Junction road in Tema.
The drivers say the poor state of the road poses serious safety risks, particularly as they transport highly inflammable petroleum products through the area.
In a notice dated September 3, the Secretariat said the strike had affected the distribution of premix fuel and could disrupt supplies to fishing communities and other users who depend on the product.
“The ongoing strike by the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union has temporarily affected the supply of premix fuel,” the Secretariat stated.
The Secretariat said efforts were underway to resolve the situation and expressed optimism that the strike would be called off soon.
It apologised to stakeholders for the inconvenience and urged them to remain patient while assuring them of its commitment to restoring an adequate and reliable supply of premix fuel.
