Parliament to Open Ghana’s First Parliamentary Museum on September 22
The Parliament of Ghana is set to officially open its first Parliamentary Museum to the public on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Parliamentary Service, the museum is intended to preserve and showcase Ghana’s parliamentary history while promoting public understanding and engagement with the country’s legislative institutions.
The facility, located within Parliament, will be open to visitors from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The museum will feature a collection of historical photographs, official documents and records of parliamentary proceedings, as well as artefacts and memorabilia associated with former Speakers of Parliament.
It will also include archival materials on the Legislative Council and Ghana’s constitutional development, ceremonial items and interactive multimedia exhibits explaining the law-making process and the history of governance.
Parliament says the museum will serve students, researchers, tourists, Members of Parliament and staff, while providing the general public with an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the history and operations of the legislature.
Visitors who wish to tour the facility are required to book through Parliament’s official website by selecting “Visit,” then “Museum,” and completing the online request form. Applicants will receive a notification once their request has been approved.
The Parliamentary Service said the museum forms part of efforts to promote openness, public education and the preservation of Ghana’s legislative history for future generations.
Parliament’s official website also provides information for visitors and educational groups seeking access to Parliament.
