Fire Outbreak Triggers Power Outage in Parts of Accra

A fire outbreak at the North Industrial Area has disrupted electricity supply to several communities in Accra, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, October 1, ECG’s Accra West Region attributed the power outage to a fire near its Substation ‘D’ at Avenor.
Communities affected by the interruption include North Industrial Area, North Kaneshie, Tesano, Abeka Junction, Peace FM, Santana Market and Alajo Junction, as well as nearby areas.
According to ECG, the fire in the vicinity of the Avenor substation resulted in an interruption of power supply while technical teams worked to identify and resolve the fault.

The company said its engineers had been deployed to the affected area to undertake restoration work and reconnect customers.
ECG assured residents and businesses that efforts were underway to restore electricity but did not provide a definite timeline for the completion of the repairs.
The power distributor apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the outage and appealed for their patience and understanding.
Affected residents and businesses have been advised to monitor ECG’s updates for further information on the progress of the restoration exercise.
