GFA Confirms Departure of Black Stars Head Coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the head coach of the Black Stars have mutually agreed to end their Service Agreement, bringing an end to his tenure with the senior national team.

The decision followed discussions between both parties and was reached in an atmosphere of mutual respect. His appointment had been seen as part of efforts to strengthen the Black Stars and prepare the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In his farewell message, the outgoing coach expressed appreciation to the GFA, particularly its President, for giving him the opportunity to lead Ghana’s national team. He also thanked his technical team and all those who supported the team’s preparations during his tenure.

The coach reserved special praise for the Black Stars players, commending them for their commitment, courage and pride in representing Ghana.

He urged Ghanaians to continue supporting the players, stressing that the team still possesses considerable talent and potential.

“Believe in these players. Protect them. Support them,” he said in his farewell appeal.

According to the departing coach, the current generation of players can still achieve significant success if they receive the necessary support and operate in an environment built around unity and stability.

His departure therefore signals a new phase for the Black Stars, with attention expected to shift towards the team’s future direction and the measures needed to help the players perform at their best on the international stage.

The former coach also thanked Ghanaians and Black Stars supporters for their passion, hospitality and continued encouragement throughout his time with the team.

Although his tenure has come to an end earlier than anticipated, he leaves with appreciation and pride for having had the opportunity to serve Ghana.

The change in leadership now opens a new chapter for the Black Stars, with the team’s progress depending on continued support, unity and the development of the talent available to Ghanaian football.
