Obuasi SHS Technical Headmaster Rape Case Referred to Attorney-General

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has forwarded the case docket on an alleged rape involving the Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, also known as Paapaa, to the Attorney-General’s Office for study and advice.

In a press release dated October 16, 2026, the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Bekwai said investigations into the alleged incident had been completed and the docket submitted for the next stage of the legal process.

According to the police, a 20-year-old Form Two student of the school, accompanied by her father, reported the incident to the Obuasi DOVVSU on August 4, 2026.

The student alleged that the incident occurred on July 25, 2026, when the headmaster invited her to his official bungalow on the school’s campus under the pretext of running an errand for him.

She told investigators that she had gone to an area near the headmaster’s residence where students dry their clothes to remove her dresses when he allegedly lured her into the bungalow.

According to the complaint, the headmaster allegedly made unwanted advances towards her in the sitting room before dragging her into a bedroom, where he allegedly forced her to have sexual intercourse with him against her will.

The police statement further indicated that the student alleged she was given GH¢100 after the incident in an attempt to prevent her from speaking about what had happened.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command said investigations into the case included a medical examination, reconstruction of the scene, photographs and witness statements.

The completed docket has since been forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office for legal advice and any necessary action.

The police assured the public that efforts were being made to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case, adding that the command remained committed to maintaining peace and enforcing the law within its jurisdiction.

The allegations have not been established in court, and the case remains subject to the legal process.
