Mahama Breaks Ground for 1,238-Acre Afienya Industrial Park

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming Ghana’s macroeconomic stability into increased industrial production, improved incomes and sustainable job creation.
He made the remarks during a groundbreaking ceremony for the 1,238-acre Afienya Industrial Park, an initiative expected to strengthen the country’s industrial sector, attract private investment and expand employment opportunities.
The environmentally friendly industrial hub is expected to host more than 120 businesses operating in various sectors, including automotive assembly, textiles, pharmaceuticals and agribusiness.
The park will provide investors with fully serviced industrial plots featuring dedicated electricity supply, treated water, modern waste management facilities and paved internal roads. These provisions are intended to address common challenges facing businesses, particularly land disputes and unreliable utility services.
President Mahama disclosed that 14 industrial companies had already expressed interest in setting up operations at the facility, even before construction is completed.
He said the project was part of the government’s broader strategy to build on macroeconomic gains by boosting production, raising incomes and creating sustainable employment.
As part of his industrial development engagements, the President also visited the Bright International Industrial Zone, where he assured investors of the government’s determination to provide a favourable business environment to support private investment and industrial growth.
