Kumasi-based businessman and philanthropist Stephen Kwabena Boateng, popularly known as Kwabena Kesse, has died at the age of 68.
The Chief Executive Officer of KESSBEN Group of Companies reportedly passed away after an illness.
Born on September 12, 1957, Kwabena Kesse grew up in North Suntreso, Kumasi, where he later built a successful business career spanning more than three decades.
Through the Kessben Group, he established and managed a diverse portfolio of businesses, including Kessben Travel and Tours, Kessben Driving School, Kessben Computer School, Kessben Shipping and Forwarding Ltd., Fosua Hotel and Conference Centre, Kessben University College, Kessben Consult and Kessben Foundation.
His business interests also extended into the media industry. He was the sole shareholder of Kessben FM Limited, the company under which Kessben FM, Kessben TV and Aseda TV operated.
Kwabena Kesse also held majority shares in Multi Credit Savings and Loans Ltd.
Beyond business, he was recognised for his philanthropic activities and public service. He served as a member of Ghana’s National Peace Council from 2004 to 2010.
His death marks the loss of one of Kumasi’s notable entrepreneurs, whose business ventures and philanthropic activities left a significant footprint in the Ashanti Region and beyond.
