The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a temporary power outage across several communities in the Accra West Region on Sunday, August 23, 2026, as part of planned maintenance works.
According to ECG, the exercise is aimed at improving service delivery and will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Areas expected to be affected include Doblo, Nsuma, Satellite, Sapeiman, Medie, Kotoku, Pobiman, Blue Skies, Hebron, Ahodwo, Fotobi, Pakrom, Obudan, Kwasikrom, Police Depot, Tesano and Abeka Junction.
Other affected areas are parts of Alajo, Caprice, Army Wireless, North Kaneshie, Santana Market, Abeka Free Pipe, Kouttam, Poly Product, Kane em, Duraplast, Romarong, Forewin Ghana Ltd., Deco Plast, Burger King and Ghihoc Distillery, as well as surrounding areas.
ECG said the interruption is necessary to enable it to carry out the planned maintenance works safely and efficiently.
The company has apologised to customers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the exercise may cause and urged residents and businesses to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled outage.
The announcement comes as GRIDCo also prepares to continue emergency tower replacement works on the Ashaiman section of the Volta–Achimota 161kV transmission line on the same day, with an outage window scheduled from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
